Aside from being the Art Director on this mobile game project I also got the opportunity to do the environment tiles that were used in the game as well. Snow Racer Friends actually only uses 3 sets of tiles (start, middle, end) which are stitched together at run-time using code to combine middle tile pieces with other various obstacle art that I had my team create. Additional variation to the course is provided via a curved world shader that I had commissioned as a part of my art direction on the project which simulates the slope of the ski run.
Since this art is developed for mobile devices, all assets are all highly optimized in both polygon count and texture usage. Unfortunately, Snow Racer Friends was not much of a commercial success, but it did reach top 10 status for a while on both Google and iOS.
